The Spirit of Gratitude

Thursday 11-21-19

~1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJ) “In Everything Give Thanks; For This Is The Will Of God In Christ Jesus For You.”

~God Commands Us To Be Thankful. ~Philippians 4:4-8 (NKJ) ~Psalm 105:1 (NKJ) ~Colossians 3:15 (NKJ) ~Colossians 4:2 (NKJ)
~The Lack Of Thankfulness Is The Beginning Of Idolatry And Depravity. ~Romans 1:21 (NKJ)

~Unthankfulness Finds Expression In Our Words. ~Matthew 12:34 (NKJ)

~Grumbling, Murmuring And Complaining Are Sinful Actions.

~Complaining Demonstrates A Lack Of Trust And A Heart Of Rebellion. ~1 Chronicles 16:34 (NKJ)

~There Is An Important Story In Luke 17:11-19 (NLT). ~Ten Lepers Met Jesus And Had A Life Changing Encounter With The Lord.

~1. All Ten Lepers Were Desperate.

~2. All Ten Of Them Had Faith In Jesus.

~3. All Ten Lepers Obeyed His Instruction.

~4. And All Ten Of Them Were Healed.

~But Then We See One Has A Different Response... He Returned To Give Thanks To Jesus.

~There Were Nine Who Did Not Take The Time To Say Thank You.

~These Nine Guys Are A Lot Like Us… Look At This…

~1. One Waited To See If The Cure Was Real. ~2. One Waited To See If It Would Last.
~3. One Said Maybe He Would See Jesus Later. ~4. One Said He Probably Would Have Gotten Well Anyway.
~5. One Gave The Glory To The Priests. ~6. One Said, "O, Well, Jesus Didn’t Really Do Anything That Special."
~7. One Said, "Any Rabbi Could Have Done The Same Thing For Me." ~8. One Said, "I Think I Was Already Getting Better." ~9. One Decided That It Was Probably Not A Miracle After All... And That He Just Never Had Leprosy.

~10. And Then There Was One Who Returned To Give God Thanks.

~1. A Priority Of Your Gratitude.  ~Luke 17:14, “He Looked At Them And Said, “Go Show Yourselves To The Priests.” And As They Went, They Were Cleansed Of Their Leprosy.”

~Question: Why Did Jesus Tell Them To Go To The Priest? ~Why Didn’t He Just Say, “Be Healed”?

~Answer: Because Faith Is Always Required Of Those Who Need His Help. They Went By Faith And They Were Healed.

~2. The Perception Of Gratitude. ~Luke 17:15 (NKJ) “He Saw” That He Was Healed. ~The Priority In Your Gratitude Is To Worship God First… Praising, Giving, Loving, Faithing, Trusting. ~Those Who Neglect To Live In Thankfulness Often Miss Out On Greater Blessings That God Would Have For Them. ~People Don’t Complain Because They Have A Lot Of Problems... They Have Problems Because They Consistently Murmur And Gossip And Complain.

~Complaining Makes Us Miserable. ~Psalm 77:3 (NKJ) “I Complained And My Spirit Was Overwhelmed.”

~3. Perfection In Your Gratitude. ~Luke 17:15-16 (NKJ) Proving God’s Worth By The Way You Live Your Daily Life.~Luke 17:19 (NKJ) “…Your Faith Has Made You Whole.” ~Those Whom God Can Truly Bless Are Those Who Have Made It A Point To Thank God Often For The Things With Which He Has Already Blessed Them.

~If Christians Praised God More, The World Would Doubt Him Less. ~More Praise… More Souls. ~Psalm 100 (NKJ)~You Won’t Be Happy With More Until You’re Happy With What You’ve Got Right Now!
~1 Thessalonians 5:16 (MSG) “Be Cheerful No Matter What, Pray All The Time; Thank God No Matter What Happens. This Is The Way God Wants You Who Belong To Christ Jesus To Live.” ~Psalm 100:4 (MSG) “Enter With The Password: “Thank You!” Make Yourselves At Home, Talking Praise. Thank Him. Worship Him.”

~When Things Are Tough, Remember Hebrews 13:15 “Through Jesus, Let Us Continually Offer To God A Sacrifice Of Praise--The Fruit Of Lips That Confess His Name.”  ~1 Corinthians 1:4 (NKJ) “I Thank My God Always Concerning You.”

~1. An Attitude Of Gratitude Is The Will Of God For You.
~2. An Attitude Of Gratitude Is Developed Over Time.

~3. It Opens The Windows Of Heaven To Us.

~4. “Thanks” Is Our Password To Access.
~5. We Need To Be Thankful In Good Times And Bad Times. In Plenty Or In Want.

~6. Don’t Wait For Better Days. Give Thanks In Whatever Circumstances You Are In Now.
